An apple a day keeps the doctor away, we grew up listening to this phrase. But ever thought of eating baked apples?

Baked apples are sliced, chopped, or whole apples that are made moist and juicy by baking at a certain degree. It is the best treatment for your sweet tooth. These baked apples are made with the fillings of cinnamon crumble, and cardamom along with cranberries and nuts which makes every bite of it admires it more. 

Best combination when served with ricotta cheese mixture, considered healthy and delicious savory which can keep you energetic throughout the day. Coconut sugar can also be preferred while making this to make it naturally sweetened and super satisfying.

It is one of the most popular breakfasts among Britishers and can be the best go-to snack for movies too. And if you’re vegan, then this will surely be a hit for you.

The best thing about it is how easy they are to make; with little effort and lots of love. They are served with salted caramel and vanilla ice cream but ricotta cheese balls would also make a good pair with them.

Ingredients
  

Baked Apples

  • 4-6 Apples
  • 4 tbsp Butter
  • 1/2 cup Brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp Cinnamon
  • 1/4 Chopped nuts (your choice)
  • 1/4 Dried cranberries
  • 1/2 tbsp Cardamom
  • 1 cup Ricotta cheese
  • 1/2 cup Powdered sugar

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 350°F
  • Cut the apple at the top. So as to obtain a lid. Clean from seeds. Using a spoon, carve a little to make room for the filling.
  • In a medium bowl mix the sugar, cinnamon, cardamom, cranberries, and nuts. Stir well. Stuff each apple with a sugar mixture. Melt the butter and spread the apples well on top.
  • Place the apples into the baking pan. Then pour water about ½ of the baking pan.

  • Bake the apples 40-50minutes or until the apples are tender.
  • In a small bowl mix the ricotta cheese with powdered sugar until combine. You can use a food processor for this step.

  • Serve warm with a ball of ricotta cheese mixture and sprinkle with cinnamon.

Don’t bake apples ahead of time, always try to serve fresh baked apples. Otherwise, they will become extra soft and mushy.
